Maruti to launch Swift sedan on March 6th 2008[Edit:Now 26th March]

According to CNN-IBN Maruti Suzuki India are scheduled to launch the Swift Sedan[Dzire] on March 6th 2008.

Update:The launch is slated for 26th March.

What is interesting to note is SX4 prices are expected to go up by Rs.12,000 which could help Maruti indirectly as far as the Swift sedan pricing is concerned[Maruti are scheduled for an across the board price rise of Rs 2000-12000 for its different models soon except for the Swift hatchback which already had a rise in its prices]

Unclear whether Maruti is launching the diesel variant simultaneously but Maruti want to clearly take on Honda city on the mileage front here and even the petrol engine would be more oriented towards fuel efficiency.Expect this car to be a bit more pricier than the Esteem it is replacing.

What a Maruti dealer told me is that Maruti has slightly adjusted space at the back for rear seat comfort so there would be slight increase in the space at the back.

There will be variants like the swift with the diference being there will be a zdi variant[diesel] for the dzire. All features available in the zxi sx4 are present in the zdi variant so you will have abs+airbags, climate control as well as integrated music system with audio controls at the steering wheel.I have not been given the expected mileage but ecxpect it to be very high on the lines of the swift hatch diesel. All this for an ex-showroom price for less than 7 lakhs or so.Petrol variants would be a lot more cheaper.

Guys,

Maruti Suzki “Dzire” aka “Swift Sedan” (Petrol Version) will be launched on Tuesday, 25 March 2008.

As far as price is concerned it is expected to be approx. 1 lakh more than existing Swift Petrol models

Thanks for the information Harry but are you sure about only petrol variant being launched initially since even maruti dealers have told me about the diesel option as well.

Yes they have launched both diesel and petrol options. Wonder why people spread such rumours
