The Fiat Punto and Linea Expected by mid 2008 in India

Fiat in India has always been known for good cars but sadly apart from this there are a number of other tags attached as well with Fiat which almost lead to the demise of Fiat in India. Now in collaboration with Tata they have been given another chance and this time Fiat has a good partner in Tata.

The punto and the linea are stunner's but they also have some thing else as well like for instance one of the best petrol[T-jet] as well as diesel[multijet] engines in the world.Fiat also have an automatic option called the Dualogic[Robotized manual sequential gearbox] which they say is better than conventional manual as well as automatic gearboxes atleast in theory[though this feature is very unlikely for an Indian version].

Details about the technology here:
Duemotori

In India ,Fiat are manufacturing the 1.2L as well as 1.4L petrol engines as well as the 1.3L diesel engines at their ranjangaon plant by next year. These engines can be tuned accordingly so the same engine can do duty in more than one car,we will wait and see what the final output bhp figures are.

Fiat are also talking of getting the Alpha Romeo,Masserati and yes even Ferrari here in partnership with Tata again.
