While the world is talking about cheap cars for India[and other emerging markets] what not many are realizing is that there is lot of scope for even the luxury car manufacturers which so far has been dominated by Mercedes whio have smartly been in India for quite a while now.Their dominance of the Indian luxury market is under with the advent of the Bmw's,audis, porsches and so on.
BMW recorded a hefty 322.9 percent growth in the April-August period that too minus the 5 series. While Porsche has sold over 250-300 cars in a matter of one year of operations, this compared to Mercedes figures of 2500 units.
Both BMW and Audi are starting to build up their own network and are hell bent in reaching the levels of market penetration enjoyed by DC today.Mercedes on their part say "Competition will always be but we make sure to offer the latest products here. We have a very comprehensive product portfolio in India.”
India truly is shining the way it was in its glorious past.
