Come 2009 and if you are shopping for a small car you certainly would not complain regarding lack of choices,now VW plans to enter the small car market in india by 2009 with their VW polo.
VW say it would have a 1.4L diesel engine and would be priced between 5-7 lakhs.
What is surprising that VW is not afraid that both the polo as well as the jetta would be direct competitors to stable mates from skoda in India.
They are also talking of a small car,now whats not known is whether this is going to be a car in addition to the polo,anyway they say they plan 50-60% localisation.
Meanwhile VW just launched the Passat with a 2L diesel engine priced between 22-24 lakhs and they aren't even bothered with a petrol engine obviously they have learned from their skoda experience in India
