Delphi's DCR common rail engines for Tata

[This information has been changed, check the end of blog].

A few years back Delphi and Tata Motors inked a deal along with AVL of Austria to jointly develop common rail diesel injection engines and the fruits of that could soon be out in the form of the new 2.2L Tata Safari. The deal was also supposed to be for passenger car's but with fiat also in the picture wonder what happens on that front.

The LCV range too is supposed to get common rail engines by next year[2008] though at present not much is known about those engines.Delphi are also working on High speed direct injection engines[HSDI].

Delphi in their leaflet list the advantages of the DCR engines as:

1>. Compact design -makes it ideal for the passenger cars as well.

2>.Modular System - Can be used on 3,4,5,6 cylindered engines

3>. Low drive Torque - Requires Lowdrive torque from engine

4>. Independent Injection Pressure - High injection pressure at low speed possible.

5>.Noise reduction and lower NOX emissions.
