It's been over a decade since Nissan's Micra disappeared from the Australian motoring landscape.
But the name and car are about to make a comeback in the form of a cheeky little bubble-shaped hatch.
For the time being however Nissan's plans include only the 1.4-litre five-door hatch. But it makes no secret of the fact that it's interested in the alluring, glass-roofed C+C which could come later. Unlike the car we are getting, both these models are built in the UK, but with imports of the crossover Dualis starting from here soon, marketing manager Ross Booth said it would be an easy matter “to chuck a couple more in the boat.”
“At the moment, however, we just want to bring it in and cement it in, so let's just get on with it,” he said.
Micra's 1.4-litre DOHC four cylinder engine is good for 65kW of power at 5200rpm and 128Nm of torque at 3200rpm. Suspension is independent with struts at the front and and semi-independent with torsion beam rear suspension.
Expect fuel economy of about 6.3 litres/100km, but it should be noted the car takes 95 strength premium unleaded.

So far, I have no complaints. It’s running very well. The parts are tough. I make it a point to check every single part so as to avoid any problem in the road. Hopefully, I haven’t had any trouble with it during rush. I got to replace its Nissan strut bellow last week and I’m fortunately enough that it’s only the part that I needed to purchase for it this month.
