Tata Motors to assemble Buses in Kenya

The kenyan subsidiary of tata motors is setting up a bus assembly plant which should be capable of assembling 10-60 buses a month. The plant is meant to serve the neighboring markets like Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Ethiopia, Sudan, Zambia and Malawi as well.

The local assembly would mean Buses would become 25% cheaper than their present price tags.

Tata already assembles its passenger vehicles here[approx 40 per month].Tata has entered into a deal with Marshalls as its sole distributor for the entire eastern and cental african region.

Tata have done well in South Africa and may replicate this success in the entire african market.Africa is an important test for Tata if it has to become a global player also Africa could very well turn out to be the next big thing as far as the automobile market is concerned.
