Hyundai India stops production of older generation Elantra

Hyundai India has officially discarded the older generation elantra in favour of the newer generation after achieving single digit sales figures for the past couple of months. When exactly the newer generation Elantra would be launched is unknown however all Hyundai india say are that they will launch a replacement model pretty soon. The newer generation elantra coupled with Hyundai's latest generation Crdi engines could sure hot up things once again in this segment

The car which competed with the corolla did quite decently initially but then sales fell quite badly.

Hyundai has got itself the economy car maker status which has affected sales of almost all the so called premium segment cars which includes the elantra, sonata ,tuscon, terracan[discontinued].Hyundai would like to change this and they plan aggressive campaigns for the same.

Hyundai in India is best known for its Santro and apart from this car no other car has achieved such success, now Hyundai may just cut short the celebrity status of the santro in its stables by keeping it down to just one variant and instead concentrate on their newer cars namely the Pa [just like they did with the older hyundai accent car in favour of the Verna],if it works out well then Hyundai may just be able to shed the tag of making cheap cars and other cars may also do well but if it fails it could also lead to the fall of the Hyundai brand in India, another one of those dangerous balancing acts. The Pa would be launched by November this year[2007]
