The Honda civic in India is attracting a lot of criticism with regards to its suspension. It was always a known fact that the civic did bottom out with five passengers in the car,but now owners and more importantly even a honda dealer admits to an issue with the suspension[rear].
Civic owner Rajiv Shah angrily asks, “Are manufacturers hostile to the problem faced by Indian car users? Are cars with a problem recalled only in countries like the US? Do we have anyone who cares for our plight?”
These questions are being asked not by Shah alone, but by most Civic users.
At least 15 Civic users we spoke to confirmed that those sitting in the back seat have to face a bumpy ride.
“There is a problem with the rear suspension. It’s only on roads like the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, that the problem doesn’t hit you,” said an executive with the Goregaon-based Honda dealer, Linkway Honda.
Owners say the company’s attitude bothers them. “If the same problem had occurred in the US, action would have been immediate,” added Shah.
Technicians at all the three Honda dealerships in Mumbai confirmed users complained that the rear wheels touched the car’s chassis each time the car went over a rough patch.
However, the company spokesperson, Jnaneswar Sen, said, “We have not received any complaints, but the problem (if it exists) will be definitely looked into.”
Strange that if the problem was confirmed by technicians at all the Mumbai dealerships the problem went unreported at Honda India.
