Skoda India launches cheaper variant of the superb

After the octavia and the laura, skoda have now launched a cheaper variant of the superb. This variant is called the comfort and is approximately Rs. 2 Lakh cheaper than the existing variants, why does skoda not launch a cheaper variant when they launch their cars itself hopefully this is not the case with the fabia launch.

The new variant ‘Superb Comfort’ is the third upgrade on Superb. It has been priced lower than the existing model which is sold at Rs 22.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) to boost sales during the upcoming festive season.

“As a part of our new variant strategy to strengthen our position in D segment, we have introduced Superb Comfort with some modified features and at a lower price than the existing versions. This will broaden the range under Superb to suit the changing requirements of customers today,” Skoda India Managing Director (commercial) Karsten Bogun said in a statement.

He said the company has set a target to sell around 150 units by end of this year.

This automatic variant of Skoda Superb Comfort is powered by a 2.5 litre TDi engine and would sport various safety features such as airbags, rain sensors, ABS, climate control AC among others. The company also sell a 2.8 litre petrol engine powered Superb.

The biggest competitor for the Superb would be none other than the VW passat.
