100 MPG diesel hybrids from Toyota in 2010

The isuzu partnership is paying rich dividends to toyota, now they have gained expertise in the next generation diesel engines as well.Diesels are know to be particularly fuel-efficent and combined with hybrid technology cars could soon be running with an efficiency of 100 MPG or more[ok I am an optimist].Plus diesel engines need not necessarily compromise on power to be fuel-efficient so you can enjoy the best of both worlds.

Toyota's recent purchase of a 5.9% stake in Isuzu will bear fruit in 2010 when the Japanese juggernaut marries its Synergy hybrid drive system with a diesel engine.JapanToday is reporting that a Toyota subcompact with this diesel hybrid drivetrain will be available as soon as 2010.
