BMW has completed an eight-week test with help from NASA on the BMW Hydrogen 7, the first hydrogen-powered luxury sedan.
NASA personnel had access to a fleet of the hydrogen-powered cars that are based on the BMW 760Li. The Hydrogen 7 runs on a liquid hydrogen system similar to one that NASA uses in its space shuttle program. So the drivers could fill up at the Kennedy Space Center's liquid hydrogen fueling station.
BMW said 100 Hydrogen 7s have been built, and 25 are in test programs in the United States. The cars have already covered more than 1.3 million miles in test programs around the globe.
