The Holden Commodore no longer australia's favourite car

THE Holden Commodore is facing the toughest challenge yet to its long reign as Australia's favourite car as Toyota sells more and more smaller cars.

An all-new Toyota Corolla has landed, and it has taken less than a month for the revitalised compact contender to overtake the hulking home-grown model.

More than 5800 Corollas were delivered in Australia last month, compared with about 5500 Commodores, though official sales figures will not become public until later today.
